Hamlet Act I: Movie vs. Play

Respond to the question below in full sentences and in minimum 2 paragraphs.

The movie presentation of Hamlet has many differences and similarities to the play. Name four differences you see from Act I.

In addition, write a response to the movie so far. Is it appealing? Does it call to you more than the play? Why or why not? What are some issues you have with the movie? With the play? What do you wish they'd have done in the movie to enhance the value of the play?

  1. There are many differences as well as similarities between the movie Hamlet and the book Hamlet. To start with the differences, in the movie the wedding of Hamlet's mother, Gertrude, and his uncle, Claudius, is shown and spoken about, while in the book, nothing is spoken about it besides the fact that it was only a month after the death of Hamlet's father, King Hamlet. Then to the similarities, in the movie the ghost appears to the guards in the same way as the book.
